What is the Optimill®?

The Optimill® is a one-of-a-kind designed treadmill that doesn't use a motor. It offers a real and genuine running experience. With the Optimill®, you're not just simulating running; you're genuinely doing it.

Exceed your fitness goals

With a traditional treadmill, you don't get the full experience of pushing off the ground and propelling forward. However, the motorless Optimill® treadmill requires this kind of effort for it to work. Your foot's force drives the Optimill® forward while a shock-absorbing resistance band securely holds your body. As you run on the Optimill®, a wireless heart rate monitor in front of you lets you keep track of your speed, heart rate, distance, and other metrics in real-time.

You're in complete control

The Optimill® addresses safety concerns common with traditional treadmills, which are often linked to around 25,000 injuries per year, many of these injuries occur because the treadmill's speed can't be naturally adjusted. On the Optimill®, you control the pace, meaning you won't be overtaken by a motor. Its belt is crafted with shock-absorbing slats to lessen impact on your joints, and it moves smoothly, mirroring your speed, even when slowing down or stopping. The band that secures you in place also incorporates shock-absorbing technology for additional safety and comfort.

No experience necessary

The Optimill® serves as an excellent running tool for all fitness levels because you, not a motor, set the pace. Its user-directed speed capability has proven advantageous for high-performance athletes and patients in rehabilitation alike.

With the Optimill®, you can modify the resistance of your run by attaching the strap to your shoulders, waist, or chest when using it alongside other equipment. You can even use the Optimill® with the strap around your wrist or ankle to aid in correcting your walking or running posture.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between normal treadmill and curved treadmill?

A curved treadmill, also known as a manual treadmill, is a recent addition to fitness gear. Unlike traditional electric treadmills, a curved treadmill doesn't use a motor. Instead, you power it with your own muscle force and foot movement, which sets the belt moving.

Are curved treadmills harder to run on?

Research has shown that running on a curved, manual treadmill can indeed make you work about 30% harder compared to a motorized treadmill. This was reflected in the participants' perceived effort, which was 27% higher on the curved treadmill. Physiologically, they used up to 32% more oxygen, their heart rates increased by 16%, and their running cadence was 2.5% higher. Additionally, their running economy was 38% lower, indicating more effort was needed to maintain the same speed compared to a motorized treadmill.

What muscles do the curved treadmill work?

Running on a curved treadmill engages more muscles, particularly the hamstrings and glutes, because you must propel the belt forward using a certain technique, similar to outdoor running. Additionally, a curved treadmill provides the benefit of reduced displacement of the body's center of mass, enhancing your running efficiency and form.

What is a good speed to walk on a treadmill to lose weight?

For health-focused walking, aim for a speed of around 3 miles per hour, which equates to taking about 120 steps every minute or completing a mile in 20 minutes. However, if your goal is weight loss, you should aim for a quicker pace of 4 miles per hour, which means taking approximately 135 steps per minute or covering a mile in 15 minutes.

How long does it take to see results from a treadmill?

You could start seeing health improvements from treadmill workouts within one to two weeks, depending on your objectives. For instance, enhancements in your mood could be noticeable right after your initial workouts and continue throughout your first week of training.

Is walking on a treadmill better than an elliptical?

The choice between an elliptical and a treadmill comes down to your specific requirements. If you're prone to injuries or have a musculoskeletal condition, the elliptical might be safer for you. However, if your goals involve burning significant calories, boosting leg strength, or improving speed, you might prefer using a treadmill.

What happens if you walk on a treadmill for 30 minutes everyday?

Walking on a treadmill for 30 minutes each day can bring various advantages. These include enhancing your heart health, helping in weight reduction, improving your mental well-being, promoting better sleep, and boosting your energy levels.

What is a good speed for a beginner on a treadmill?

Certified personal trainer Jill McKay suggests starting your treadmill workout at a gentle pace, around 3 mph. As you gain comfort and stamina, you can gradually increase your speed. "It's best to warm up for at least five minutes at an easy to moderate walking pace, maybe a 2.5 mph or 3 mph pace," says McKay.
