Garmin Descent Mk2i

I haven't used it for diving yet, but I have used it for hiking and swimming. Excellent, despite being heavier than my previous Garmin (I knew that, I chose this model because it is more complete). Very intuitive interface. Beautiful.

On Nov 30th 2023, I surfaced from first dive with my wife and wearing the Garmin Mk2i.
We looked up and the Indo Siren (Raja Ampat) was on fire. We lost everything but the scuba gear we were wearing and my MK2i.
We got to test out the Garmin Pay contactless payment function when we finally got back to Bali. It worked flawlessly. My wife ordered the Mk3i the day we got home. Keep multiple credit cards on them and a way to authenticate yourselves if cell phones, tablets, and computers are gone. This was the real deal.

Works perfect. Only down inside is the display isn’t by no mean vivid like on I watch colors are a little dull. But beside that it’s great

ease of use-if you have been using a garmin watch, super easy. if you haven't ever used a garmin watch, theres a learning curve.
performance, I give 8of 10. 2 points off for loss of connection with transmitter. easily restored by putting arm up over head, but still an annoyance. especially at safety stop.
value for money-better than most expensive dive computers because it does so much more.
brightness is perfect. i can NEVER not see my watch, whether I'm at 100' or in bright sun. even at night all i have to do is turn my wrist to light it up. evrn the flashlight function gives way more light then youd expect for a small dial.
charge lasts 8 days with blue tooth and wifi enabled, and roughly 8 dives (60 min each-for me this is two full days of diving and down to about 10-12%, so not totally dead). charges pretty fast on the charger (maybe 90 min from 10%). tells you to end dive with 10 min of battery life left.
tracks sleep, HR, HRV, PO2, stress. it literally trlls me to stop when ive done too much (recovering from cardiomyopathy). example: we were in Jordan and we hiked to the treasury on a rather hot day. my watched buzzed, with message saying i had exceeded physical activity threshold and to rest and recover ASAP, or something to that effect. and it is always spot on with how I feel. the only thing it doesnt do is ECG.
ive been wearing it 24/7 for a couple of years now. people who complain about it being difficult and too many button pushes haven't figured out how to customize the screen. And i wont deny, i thought my first Garmin watch way back was too complicated and almost sent it back, but i got used to it and learned it, and now i can utilize any watch because the setup is always the same.
lots of watch face options and customizable to your own image.
Not only does the battery last longer than an apple watch between charges, the life of the battery lasts about 5 years (I think this is longer then an apple watch but dont know for sure on that).
You can listen to music, receive texts, and see incoming calls. Downside, you can’t answer.

It does everything, and then some - too much, if you ask me. There is a learning curve, not simple. The resolution is poor, designed to be seen in the bright sunlight when on a boat on the way to SCUBA diving. For daily wear, it looks good under the sun, not indoors because of the poor screen resolution, at least that's how it looked to me. However, I still give it a 5 star 🌟 rating.
